Saturday 8th

On Saturday, we invite you to the following events:

10:00-18:00 – Stop shopping! – Open day at Trondheim Taiji centre

Trondheim Taiji senter

Every Saturday, city centres, shopping centres and shopping bags are filling up at rapid speed. Our extreme and often mindless consumption is bad news for our planet, and nowadays shopping is seen as a hobby rather than a way of obtaining things you actually need. In collaboration with Trondheim Taiji Centre, Klimafestivalen wants to create an alternative and anti-materialistic activity in Midtbyen this Saturday. During the opening hours of Midtbyen, 10am – 6pm, Trondheim Taiji Centre open their doors to the public and invite you in to a space of peace and calm, reflection or a cup of tea. Taiji is a traditional Chinese martial art, also described as meditation in movement. Through soft, flowing movements the body and mind becomes balanced. It increases our awareness, and helps us being more present in our life. Through this we can more easily see what is really going on around us, and take positive choices for our selves, others and Mother Earth. Trondheim Taiji Senter wishes everyone a warm welcome to a shopping free day in our relaxing environment. During the day there will be a freeTaiji workshop at 3 pm, tea is served the whole day. Or just come and relax and reflect. Kids are also welcome.

Program for the day:
10:00 – 18:00 Open house
09:30 – 10.00 Morning meditation

14:00-16:00 – Upcycling workshop: Fuglekasser som forteller

We like to recycle our milk cartons – but have you ever tried upcycling? Klimafestivalen invites in collaboration with World Cultures United to a crafty workshop at Folkeverkstedet in Trondheim Folkebibliotek. Artist Irene Dominguez makes bird houses from used beverage cartons, and invites kids to join her for a Staurday afternoon of creation, learning and fun.
The creations will be at display at Folkeverkstedet for a bit, and then brought home by their respective artists, hopefully to become a home for a feathered friend.
The workshop is free, please register at Hoopla.
Keep in mind that we’ll use acrylic painting, so don’t wear your Sunday best!
Age group: 5-12 years old, parents of course welcome.
Remember to bring a beverage carton!
